About Us

The Pennsylvania Oncology Hematology Managers’ Society (POHMS) is a non-profit corporation (501C(6)) which was formed in 1994 to address the growing needs of administrators in the community based oncology practices.

Our Mission

POHMS mission is to improve the business conditions for oncology and hematology practices through:

  • Personal development
  • Professional education
  • Collaboration with appropriate stakeholders

POHMS strives to disseminate the most current and best information impacting the practice of oncology to members. POHMS distributes information via its web site, fax and email broadcasts, and quarterly newsletters; Coding Teleconferences with a Coding Consultant; organizes education meetings for administrators, nurses, and coding professionals; manages Community Hematology Oncology Consortium (CHOC), a group drug purchasing network for members who wish to purchase drugs at favorable prices and terms; and, regularly meets with representatives in the health care sector on behalf of oncologists, nurses, practice managers, and people living with cancer.

POHMS currently represents approximately 120 oncology practices throughout Pennsylvania, in addition to Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, and Connecticut. Our members are community-based oncologists, administrators, managers, clinical personnel, coding specialists and other interested parties in the hematology oncology industry.

POHMS is governed by an elected Board of Directors and an Executive Director.
